According to BleepingComputer, internal source code and other data belonging to The New York Times were leaked by an anonymous user to the 4chan forum on June 6, 2024. The document size was 270GB and an anonymous user posted that there are about 5,000 repositories, totaling 3.6 million uncompressed tar files. The folder names show that a wide variety of information was stolen, including IT documents, infrastructure tools, and source code. It is also include the virus Wordle game. And in the same week, the other two data breaches occurred on 4chan involving The Times and Disney.
A series of events highlight the severity of network information security issues. Both individuals and institutions need to strengthen data security protection, appropriately enhance the protection of important information, in order to reduce such potential risks, and maintain their rights and reputation.
